This website came into being for the purpose of creating a community for sharing and learning to make the world a healthier more compassionate place for us, the environment, and the animals by using a healthy, plant-based lifestyle.
My husband, Robert, and I are fortunate enough to be living our dream in Hawaii. We moved to Maui over 13 years ago and have been working on our vision of renovating a small plantation home, living simply and more in tune with nature, while growing as much of our own food as possible.
We are enjoying avocados, breadfruit, jackfruit, Tahitian limes, Meyer lemons, Honey tangerines, turmeric (olena), and Surinam cherries, figs, tomatoes, eggplant, cacao, and mulberries. Our garden also produces abundant bananas, papayas, Okinawan and New Zealand spinach, Moringa, herbs, and many varieties of kale.
We have learned so much about gardening and what grows well here, although we have much more to learn. We have changed our diets significantly over the past 15+ years from the Standard American Diet to completely plant-based, after reading The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, PhD. The benefits of a plant-based diet are so numerous but simply stated, is the best way to take care of our bodies, the planet and of course the animals.
In 2014, I studied nutrition through Cornell University’s program and earned a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition. Next, I went through an awesome and life-changing Plant-Based Professional Cooking Course through Rouxbe Cooking School in 2015, which really increased my knowledge and skill in preparing vegan meals. I know there is so much more I can learn and do, to care for our beautiful planet. I know many others are trying to do the same and thought that this would be a fun way to share what we know and learn from each other. Please make comments and let me know what you think.
