A great recovery drink after you exercise. For me, smoothies never taste better than after I get back from a run in the mornings. They provide hydration, anti-inflammatory goodness, and a hefty dose of nutrition so that you can return to activity with less delayed-onset muscle soreness that can occur after a vigorous workout.
Orange Strawberry Kale Smoothie

Orange Strawberry Kale Smoothie
A tasty, nutrient-dense smoothie that is fast and full of flavor. I find that if you start with an orange, strawberries, and some banana, you can add whatever greens and it will still taste great.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C. Water
- 1 orange peeled and sliced in half
- 5-6 dinosaur Kale leaves
- 3/4 " piece of ginger scrubbed, dry ends removed
- 1/2 a pinkie sized piece of turmeric scrubbed
- 1 1/2 C. Strawberries organic if possible and frozen
- 1 banana I used apple banana from our yard, sliced into large chunks and frozen
Instructions
- Place water, orange, ginger, turmeric, kale, strawberries, and banana into a high-speed blender. Begin on low to get the blender going and slowly increase to high power until smooth.
This was delicious when you made it for us in SLC! Just needs a slice of Lorraine’s vegan toast on the side. I like how the ginger can tame the flavor of the greens.
Thanks Bek! Yes, this fruit combination is a good base Smoothie to start with for the not-so-sure-about-the-greens-crowd. Many years ago, I started with a handful of spinach in this and slowly got my tastebuds accustomed to the “green” flavor. Now I say bring on the greens. Thanks for commenting! I love to hear your opinion.
